Alice Purnell Gaithright

Alice Purnell Gathright, 94, of Pine Bluff died Jan. 23, 2015. The daughter of John Sherman and Lois Daniel Purnell was born Sept. 24, 1920 in Pine Bluff. She was reared in Pine Bluff and married Morrell Gathright there Sept. 20, 1940. She was preceded by her husband in death in October 2014. She was a homemaker and also ran the Gathright family business for many years. Survivors include a daughter, Lori Gathright Kurz and a son, John Gathright; four grandchildren, Jan Kurz Alexander, Katherine Kurz Shaw, John Paul Gathright, Laura Gathright Woodard and 13 great-grandchildren, including two sets of twins and one set of triplets. She was very active throughout the years in First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff. She loved playing the piano, traveling and spending time with her family. Graveside services are Monday, Jan. 26, in Graceland Cemetery at 10 a.m., with Rev. Kenneth Thornton officiating. Visitation is Monday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Ralph Robinson & Son.
