James H. Allen

James H. Allen, 60, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015. James was born on May 11, 1954 to James L. and Doris Allen in Newport, Ark. He attended college at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, where he earned a degree in criminal justice. He is survived by his devoted wife, Melanie. She was honored, cherished and loved unconditionally by James, and she returned his unwavering devotion to her in full every day and in every way. Melanie never left his side during his untimely illness. James is also survived by his son, Chris and his wife, Katie of Rogers as well as their three children, Paige, Avery and Cooper, who were the highlights of his life. James was blessed with two step-sons, Joshua Clark of Rogers and Jericho Clark and his wife, Miranda of Gentry. Their son, Jayden, was also a precious part of James' life. James adored his children and grandchildren and spending time with them was his greatest joy. Watching his grandchildren grow up shepherded by loving parents who shared with them the love of Christ gave James absolute fulfillment. James is also survived by his mother, Doris Allen in North Little Rock and James' sister, Aleecia and her husband, Danny Starkey of Sherwood, Ark. James was a cherished uncle to several nieces and nephews. James is preceded in death by his father, James L. Allen. James began his career at the Jacksonville, Ark. police department and within a few short years he was named Captain of the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office. The youngest police chief ever to serve at Bentonville, James Allen held that position for 22 years and during that time James graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va. It was upon his retirement that he was led to the Rogers Police Department. He served as the chief of police in Rogers until his death. It was a tremendous blessing to James to work for the Bentonville and Rogers police departments for the last 26 years. He was surrounded by an amazing group colleagues and friends. No matter what he did or how he did it, it was done with uncompromising integrity. As Chief Allen always said, "There is never a right way to do the wrong thing." These are words to live by. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last days of his life were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. Arrangements are in the hands of Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville. Visitation for family and friends will be held at First Baptist Church of Rogers, Ark. on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Life in honor of James Allen will be held at the First Baptist Church of Rogers on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Wes George. Burial will follow at the Bentonville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to Rogers and Bentonville police departments in honor of James' life and service.
