Thealda Pennington, age 87, of Fayetteville, Ark. passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 in Fayetteville. She was born June 5, 1927 in Fayetteville the daughter of Lester Broyles and Zella Brown Broyles. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Wilma Cole and Marie McChristian. Thealda was a member at Johnson Church of Christ and held past memberships at Center Street Church of Christ and North Street Church of Christ. She was active with Ozark Christian Academy (once operational out of Robinson Ave. Church of Christ). She had a servant's heart within each congregation she was a part. Her genuine love and care for others was widely felt. She treated others like royalty, indicative of the color purple she loved. Among her personal family, she was a loyal, devoted wife, an available and hard-working mother and a compassionate and selfless grandmother. She gave all of herself to her family and was a family matriarch to the end. Her family honors and esteems her in the highest regard. She loved all her days and she has now been welcomed home. She is survived by her husband, James Arlie Pennington of the home; a daughter, Rowena (Ronald) Morrison of Springdale; a son, Ronald (Kay) Pennington of Elkins; two sisters, Doris Ann Yates and Wanda Sue Hammond, both of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Rochelle (Marcus) Hall of Fayetteville, Ryan (Jana) Morrison of Indianapolis, Ind., Reece (Angie) Morrison of Springdale and Cassie Pennington of Oklahoma City; nine great-grandchildren, Alina, Kelcey, Ashlyn, Amber, Hayes, Evan, Abigail, Autumn and Hap; and two great-grandchildren Jazmine and Kendrick. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26 at Moore's Chapel. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson Church of Christ under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
