The Lord called Noah Eugene "Gene" Jones away on Jan. 23, 2015 to be with him in Heaven. Gene was born on May 16, 1932 in Fayetteville, Ark. to Vernace Cosby Jones and William "Willie" Jones. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Earl Jones; sister-in-law, Jeraldine Jones and nephew, Kelly Stacy. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Geneva Lee Davis Jones of the home; one son, Bobby Gene Jones (Stacy); two grandsons, Christopher Brian Jones (Christina) of McKinney, Texas and Cory Clayton Jones of Cabot; three great-grandchildren, Remi Madilyn, Logan Marie and Liam Christopher Jones of McKinney, Texas and two step-grandsons, Ian Kenton Jackson and Garrett Edmund Jackson of Beebe. Noah was a retired disabled veteran from the Navy serving aboard the USS Pittsburgh during the Korean Conflict. He also was a retired US Postal Clerk of 31 years. He was a member of the American Legion. Gene was a good Christian man and a member of Dayspring Missionary Baptist Church of Ward, Ark. He and Geneva put God first and family next. Gene was a people lover, loved square dancing and calling for over 25 years. Other interests were golf, fishing, crafting jewelry, other crafts and an avid roller skater. Gene's family wishes to thank the staff of Des Arc Rehabilitation and Nursing home for the loving care they have given him since his admission there on May 5. We would like to thank the entire staff to include everyone from the cleaning, kitchen, CNA, nurses, maintenance, laundry, therapy, office and director which played such a large part in his care and comfort. Lastly, we would like to thank Arkansas Hospice staff for their kindness. Visitation will be held 6– 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at Moore's Funeral Home in Cabot. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Dayspring Missionary Baptist Church on Markham & Church Street in Ward, with interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Cabot.
