William Millard Holt (Bill)

William Millard Holt (Bill) died on Jan. 24, 2015 in Hot Springs, Ark. He was born Dec. 17, 1929 in Memphis, Tenn. to Jones A. and Thelma Tucker Holt. William was raised and educated in Memphis. He married his beloved wife of 63 years, Grace Aileen Fordice, currently residing in Hot Springs, Ark. After getting married, he embarked on a lifelong career in the grain business. William developed an extensive knowledge of the White and Arkansas rivers and became known as an expert in the navigations and shipping of grain on the two. He managed grain elevators in Arkansas, Missouri and Tennessee. He retired as a vice president of Bunge Corporation, one of the world's major grain companies. William was a member of the Mid-South Soybean Association and the National Grain & Feed Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Herold and by a beloved child, Lucinda Ann Holt Harris (Cindy) and her husband, John Chester Harris, who were killed in a plane crash in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Tucker Holt McClendon of Fayetteville, Ark. (formally Monticello, Ark.); a son, William Millard Holt Jr. (Cyndi) of Collierville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Christy Annette Frames Cushman (John), Lauren Aileen Harris Ross (Josh), Patrick Jay Harris (Margot), Lacey Ann Harris Durmon (John William), Haley Austin Holt, Olivia Grace Holt and William Millard Holt III (Wilkes). He also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. in Memphis, Tenn. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015 at 1 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. before proceeding to graveside.
