Lois Woodard Greenway

Lois Woodard Greenway, 91, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on January 23, 2015. She was born on April 28, 1923, in Paragould, Arkansas, the daughter of Ella and Jess Woodard. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of sixty years, John D. Greenway; her four sisters and one brother; and her son-in-law, Ulrich Eckert. Survivors include her two daughters, Beth Greenway and Gail Eckert, and her beloved grandson, Andrew John Eckert. Mom was a remarkable woman. "She was lovely, feisty, and witty; she had a really wicked sense of humor, keeping us all laughing until the end". She was brutally honest (but usually right). Dad, with a big grin, called her the "War Horse." Probably the greatest joy in her life was her grandson, Andrew (He-Who-Can-Do-No-Wrong). She thoroughly treasured her times with him. She also (surprisingly) adored Watson and Max, her granddogs. And, of course, she loved us – her daughters- well and deeply. Mom, we thank you for the many sacrifices you made on our behalf. We miss you more than we can say, but we celebrate the passing of your tired, worn-out body into the arms of the Lord and His everlasting joy. Abundant thanks to the following: Arkansas Skin Cancer Center, their kind nurses, and especially Dr. Randall Breau for his gentleness, warmth, and expert care; to UAMS Geriatric Palliative Care, especially Dr. Kimberly Curseen for her consummate professionalism and sweet compassion; to Fox Ridge Assisted Living in Little Rock, its wonderful staff and nurses, and especially the dedicated CNAs (including those to whom she gave an "F" in Hoyer lifting) for their hugs and laughter and for keeping Mom safe (your hard and significant work did not go unnoticed); to Jackie Arrington and Angie Cooper, care-givers extraordinaire, for their tender, loving care and devotion to Mom for many years; to Baptist Hospice, especially DeeDee Perry whose laughter kept all our spirits up and whose efficiency and expertise supported us through Mom's final years.
