Maj. Robert "Bob" Gee Denman, 86, of Little Rock and formerly Bryant, Ark., died Jan. 26, 2015. He was born April 30, 1928 to Alvern Gee and Dale Denman in Prescott, Ar. where he was raised. Bob attended Subiaco Academy and he graduated from Prescott High School where he played basketball. Bob continued his education at Marion Military Institute in Marion, Ala. He then went to Henderson State Teachers College where he met his true love, Mary Evelyn Stanley, at a dance. As a member of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps, Bob graduated from Henderson a Second Lieutenant in the Army and not long after he was sent to Korea where he fought for one year. Before shipping off to Korea Bob and Mary Evelyn were married Sep. 22, 1950 at First Christian Church on Grand and Ouachita in Hot Springs, Ark. They enjoyed traveling, the Razorbacks and family. They were married for 58 years. While in Korea he served as a platoon leader and fought in the Chosin Reservoir near the main line of resistance. He led his men in battles surviving fierce fire fights at Outpost Egg, Pork Chop Hill and Old Baldy. Following a battle at Pork Chop Hill his comanding officer wrote him up for a Silver Star Award which he refused to accept because he said he wasn't anymore brave than the rest of his men. After returning from Korea he entered the Army Reserves and retired a Major in 1966. He also taught school and worked at Timex in Little Rock before settling in for a long career at Phelps Fan Manufacturing Co. in Little Rock as a mechanical engineer and salesman. Bob was an avid golfer. On any Saturday you would find him on the golf course with his buddies from Southwest Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. And after retirement he played daily with Mac and friends at Longhills Golf Course and later with with Cam at Hurricane Country Club. Bob is loved and remembered by many including his nephew who said "The most humble, quiet, but strong Warrior I have ever known is sleeping near the gates of heaven tonight! When he awakens, the gates will spring open, and all the bugles, and trumpets will sound!!!!!. Indeed Bob was a warrior and a man of great faith. After moving to Bryant Bob and Mary joined First Presbyterian Church in Benton, Ark. where you could find him with all of his back row buddies every Sunday. Bob is survived by two sons, Robert Jr., and Peggy of Little Rock, and Stanley and LaDonna of Bryant; four grandchildren, Neil and wife Becky and David all of Little Rock, Brad and wife Hanna of North Little Rock and Brittany of Bryant and two great-grandchildren, Nadia and Alex. Honorary pallbearers will be nephew Rich Castle, the four grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Visitation will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Benton followed by service at the church at 2 p.m. and burial with full Military Honors at Pinecrest Cemetery following the service.
