Billy "Bill" Gene Scholl, 88, of Hot Springs passed away on January 27, 2015. Bill was born August 2, 1926 in Malakoff, Texas to Louis and Blanche (Vandagriff) Scholl. Bill was known as the Jazz Man, He played the trumpet in the Hot Springs Village Big Band, Village Dixielanders, Hot Springs Concert Band, and he sang in the choir at Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines Church. Bill is survived by his children: Steve (Yvonne) Scholl of Houston, Texas; Mark Scholl of Mexico; Susan (Stephen) Prestwood of Minneapolis, Minn.; Nancy Landau and Alfredo Lopez of Telluride, Colo.; two grandchildren: Nathaniel and William Prestwood, two great-grandchildren: Ainsley and Declan Prestwood. He is preceded in death by his wife, June and his brother, Buddy. There will be a Memorial Service for Bill at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 31st at Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines Church. Memorials may be made in honor of Bill and June Scholl to Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines Church or Hot Springs Village Big Band. Arrangements have been entrusted to CedarVale Funeral Home.
