Richard Dexter Vogus

Richard "Rick" Dexter Vogus of Siloam Springs, Ark. died of pneumonia and emphysema in Springdale, Ark. He was the second child born of William Dexter Vogus and Ardelia Aaronette Vogus (near Benson) in Mahnomen, Minn. on August 18, 1950. The family moved to California, where he grew up. He was in the class of 1969 of Port Hueneme High School, Calif. Rick joined the Air Force working as an B52 Flight Line Mechanic for four years. In 1968, Rick became a father to James, followed by Trenton in 1974. In 1976, Rick began a family with Marie (Lubarsky) Vogus. They raised their three daughters, Danielle, Brandy, and Brittany in Modesto, Calif. Rick worked several jobs to support the family, including a truck driver for Carl's Jr. Rick moved the family to Siloam Springs, Ark. in 2004 and worked at McKee Foods until his retirement. Rick is survived by his wife Marie Vogus of Siloam Springs, Ark., sons James Vogus of Ukiah, Calif., Trenton Vogus and daughter-in-law, Rachel of Fort Collins, Colo., daughters Danielle Keller and son-in-law, Jeff of Siloam Springs, Ark., Brandy Vogus of Siloam Springs, Ark., Brittany Vogus of Fayetteville, Ark.; granddaughters, Ariella Vogus of Siloam Springs, Ark., Kayla Vogus of Ukiah, Calif., Kiauana Vogus of Ukiah, Calif., grandsons, Liam Keller of Siloam Springs, Ark., Boden Vogus of Ukiah, Calif., brother, Dean and sister-in-law, Cindy of Springhill, Tenn.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Sybil Vogus and Cynthia LaPrad. A viewing will be held on Friday at Wasson Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Address: 441 Hwy. 412 W., Siloam Springs, Ark. A Celebration of Life Service for Rick will be held on Saturday, January 31 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. It will be a beachy themed celebration with a service and reception, followed by a cruising parade of hot rod cars.
