Alice M. "Grandma" Polk, 79, of Alexander passed away Monday, June 29th. Born in Springfield, Mo. to Thomas R. & Dorothy Foster Burt, Alice lived in Alexander for most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith and attended the Church at Rock Creek. Alice was employed by Little Rock Furniture Co., Falcon Jet and Central Flying Service. Known by her co-workers as "Grandma", Alice was widely known as a skilled seamstress and was always in great demand. She was preceded in death by her parents, sons, James Burks and Charles Burks and by her husband, Dwaine Polk. Alice is survived by her children: Dorothy Burks, Alice (Farris) Holliman, Terri (David) Stephens and Sarah (Bear) Nichol, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Alice was a terrific wife and mother who loved her family more than anything else in the world. She was well loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, July 2nd at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy. 5 North, Alexander. Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 3rd in the Forest Hills Chapel with interment to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
