RUBLE ELIZABETH BAILEY, age 100, of Jacksonville, went home to be with her Lord on July 4, 2015. She was born in the small town of Summerland, Mississippi on May 27, 1915 to the late Martin V. and Nola Anne Edwards Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Jackson; sisters, Guyneth Hodges and Ouida Griggs; her husband, Noble L. Bailey, whom she married in 1934. She is survived by two children, Fern Cross and Jerry Bailey and his wife, Loretta; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Byrd (Michael) and Jerry D. Bailey; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Mallory Byrd. She and her husband moved to Arkansas during World War II in 1944 with their six-week old baby. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville for over 50 years and remained an active member as long as her health allowed. She was also an Eastern Star member for over 60 years. She worked as a nurse at St. Vincent Hospital for over 16 years and volunteered 1000 hours in the auxiliary for the hospital in Jacksonville. She was renowned for her chocolate turtles, sugar cookies, and handmade quilts. She will be missed but her family and friends know that for the believer to be absent from the body means to be present with the Lord. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Bro. Cliff Hutchins officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Special thanks to the staff of Sherwood Nursing and Rehab for their love, care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gentiva Hospice, www.gentiva.com/hospice or First Baptist Church of Jacksonville.
