Robert M. Straughn

Robert M. Straughn, 85, of Melbourne, Arkansas, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Community Medical Center of Izard County. He was born June 18, 1930 in Pine Bluff, son of Jeff Strawn and Bessie Meeks Worthen. Mr. Straughn was reared and received his early education at the Annunciation Academy in Pine Bluff. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Straughn owned and operated the North Cedar Lumber Company for many years in Pine Bluff before moving to Calico Rock upon retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Martin Worthen. Survivors include his wife, Edith Brown Straughn, whom he married November 3, 1951 in Pine Bluff; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, July 11, 2015 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Micah McKinley officiating. Interment will follow in Cypress Memorial Gardens.
