James R. Delaney Jr. "Jim", 63, transitioned peacefully in his home in Sherwood, AR, on July 15, 2015. Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on July 7, 1952, Jim served 23 years of his life as an army communications officer after four years in the marines, and medically retired as Sergeant First Class in 1990. A longtime Freemason, Jim celebrated a lifelong dream of serving as Worshipful Master of the Beebe lodge, and was a beloved member of the Unity Church and Oneness spiritual families. Jim was passionate about music, science fiction, drumming and meditation and really bad sci-fi thriller movies though his greatest passion was his wife. He was a gifted storyteller, with a true Irish heart. He embodied loyalty, honor, devotion, duty and service to God, his country and his family. Being near Jim made you feel safer, protected, valued and appreciated. He was trustworthy and true. He never broke a promise, or turned away from family in time of need. Jim had the biggest heart a man could hold between shoulders so broad they carried the world. He will be missed in every way, every day. He made the decision to be an organ donor and will live on in the lives of others who will get to keep their loved ones or see them heal because of his gifts. He is survived by his wife, Vändra Morgan-Delaney; three daughters; Abbie Delaney Jones, Aislinn Liddle, and Olivia Morgan Snider; seven grandchildren, Cale and Axel Jones, Ian Morgan, Ariana and David Edwards, Aurora and Alexander Liddle; two brothers, David Delaney, Edward Delaney, his wife Catherine, and one sister and brother-in-law, Bob & Kathleen Pantaline, his nieces, Kaitlyn, Amy, Sophia, Britney, Carol Anne, Laura and Lisa and one nephew, Jason. He is pre-deceased by his parents, James R. Delaney Sr., and Loretta Ann Bell Delaney, married for over 50 years. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Memorial services will be Tuesday the 4th of August at Unity of Little Rock from 5-6:30 p.m. and we will try to film or live video stream it for those unable to attend, please contact us. Honorary pallbearers are David and Edward Delaney, James Buchanan, Chris Johnson, Bob Pantaline, and Jeff Long. Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home & Crematory (501) 982-2136.
