DOROTHY ELIZABETH SHEA, 92, of Jacksonville died Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Woodland Hills in Jacksonville. She was born Feb. 21, 1923 in Jackson, Mo., the daughter of John Ralph and Edna Matilda Hoffmeister Maybrey. She and Paul Shea were married Aug. 11, 1951, in Jackson. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul Shea, her parents and sister, Edna June Hilpert. Dorothy graduated from Southeast Missouri with a degree in education and music. She taught school in the St. Louis School District, Department of Defense School System and Pulaski County Special School District. She taught seventh and ninth grade science for 15 years at Southside Junior High School and served as head of the science department. She was named to the National Achievement Advisory Board in 1983. She is survived by a son, James (Lela) Shea of Dayton, Tenn. and daughters, Elizabeth Lamb, Kathleen Donahue and Margaret (Jesus) Rivera of Jacksonville. She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2015 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
