Francis M. (Frank) Covey

Francis M (Frank) Covey, of Hot Springs, Ark., formerly of Decatur, Ill., died Thursday, July 2, 2015. He was born March 17, 1925 at Dewitt County, Ill. to the late Cecil & Iva (Lafferty) Covey. Frank was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran proudly serving with the 5th Marine division during WWII, with whom he landed with the eighth wave on Iwo Jima, and was part of the Occupation Forces in Japan. He was also part of the 2nd Marine Division during the Korean Conflict. After his military service he was employed by Purity Baking Company (Sunbeam Bread), in Decatur, Ill., serving in Sales and later in Management before retiring. He is preceded in death by his first wife Jane Perkins; sister Catherine Covey; brother Donald Covey and brother-in-law James Noseck. Survivors include his wife Joan Covey; son Rodney Covey (Jody); daughter Sherry Wills; step-daughter Melanie Medlin (Rusty); brother Delvin Covey; Mary Covey Noseck; grandsons Michael Wills (Leslie), Brian Wills (Amy), Christopher Wills (Brandi) and Clayton Covey; step grandson Jon Medlin (Sarah); granddaughters Kristin Wills Landry (Dan), Natalie Covey, Danielle Covey; step-granddaughter Sara Medlin; nine great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be 10 am Saturday, July 25 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mark Cain officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of choice.
