Lynn Cawfield Rowe, 89, of Royal, went home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2015. Lynn was born October 6, 1925 in Hot Springs, Ark. He graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1943. Lynn earned his private pilot's license when he was 17, beginning a life-long love of planes and flying. In November 1943, he entered the Army/Air Corp until April 1946. In the summer of 1944, while home on leave, Lynn met his wife of 67 years, Martha Jane Talley, at Cook's Ice Cream in Hot Springs where she worked. They married on October 27, 1948. In 1956 Lynn graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and began his 30-year career with Cromwell Architects Engineers in Little Rock. At the Cromwell firm, he worked on many significant projects, including the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Dept. Bldg., the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock, and Arkansas Bank and Trust Company in Hot Springs. In addition, Lynn designed and helped build many decks, homes and additions for family and friends including his retirement home where he and Martha have lived for the past 33 years. One of Lynn's greatest passions was family. He spent many hours with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren pulling them through the woods in a wagon behind his tractor, riding them on 4 wheelers, and taking them swimming in the creek. Family gatherings and holidays were important to him. Everyone loved his sense of humor and the many stories he would tell from "ages" past. He also loved to travel, anywhere. Whenever he took a trip, he always took the "scenic route." Lynn had a great faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While in Little Rock, Lynn and Martha were members at Pulaski Heights United Methodist and The Bible Church of Little Rock where he served as an Elder and sang in the choir. In later years, they attended Hot Springs Baptist Church. Lynn is preceded in death by his parents Horace and Blanche Rowe, a brother Horace Jr., and sister-in-law Ann Rowe, and three great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Martha Talley Rowe, two daughters Lynda and (Jerry) Maddox of Little Rock and Julie Gullickson of Hot Springs, one son Cam and (Trisha) Rowe of Little Rock, six grandchildren, Emily Jacob, Joshua Maddox, Jason Rowe, Shannon Davis, Andrew Rowe, Noah Smith, and 23 great-grandchildren. The family wants to express their appreciation and heartfelt thank you to Arkansas Hospice and Debbie and Susan for their loving care they have given Lynn and Martha. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Gross Funeral Home with the visitation one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
