Lou Ann Pew, 80, of Conway passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015. She was born July 27, 1934, in Holland, Ark., to the late Morris H. Butler and Bonnie Dillaha Butler. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lauren Elaine Shaw. Mrs. Pew was a member of First United Methodist Church in Conway. She graduated from Greenbrier High School and Arkansas State Teachers College, now known as U.C.A. She later earned her Master's Degree in Home Economics. Lou Ann was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota sorority and she was an Arkansas Educator for many years, teaching home economics and specializing in sewing. She taught many young men and women the art of sewing, ranging from an apron to formal dresses. She retired from the Conway High School after 33 years of dedicated service. Lou Ann loved to travel with her husband James Fay. She also enjoyed entertaining in her home, hosting showers and parties, as she was an excellent cook. After retiring she was the primary caregiver for her seven grandchildren. They were her "prides in joy" as she would say. Lou Ann followed and supported her kids and grandkids in all their activities, traveling many miles to cheer them on. She was known as "Gammer", then later Grandmother by her grandchildren. Lou Ann was a gentle, dignified, respected, and prideful woman. She and her husband, Fay, portrayed the true, unconditional love for each other and treated each with respect and dignity. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, James Fay Pew; son, James Bentley Pew and wife Angela of Conway; daughter, Sarah Shaw and husband William of Conway; grandchildren, Samie, Austin, and Harrison Pew, Allison, Emile, and Brandon Shaw; sister, Mary Jo Simon and husband Mike of Conway and a host of other loving family members and friends. Funeral service was 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Conway with Rev. Michael Roberts and Lynn Kilbourn officiating. Burial followed at Crestlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers were William Shaw, Mike Simon, Fredrick Simon, Tim Simon, Greg Simon, Jason Simon, Jeremy Simon, Matt Simon and Nick Simon. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Austin Pew, Harrison Pew and Brandon Shaw. Visitation was 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway.
