Roy Townsend, 98, of Booneville, Arkansas died July 25, 2015. He was born March 22, 1917 on White Creek Mountain, Arkansas the son of Benjamin Franklin and Emma (Yanells) Townsend. Roy was pastor of Centerton Full Gospel Church, owner and operator of Meat Town Butcher Shop in Centerton, and a poultry farmer. Known for being his own man, it was hard to get Roy to change his mind about how things should be done once it was made up. Roy also had a loving, caring, kind and giving heart and wanted to be a Light to this dark world. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Emma Townsend; his wife, Wanda L. Townsend, who he was married to from January 22, 1940 thru January 12, 2013 for 72 years, 11 months and 21 days; one son, Kenneth Townsend and his wife Susan as well as thirteen brothers and sisters. Roy is survived by one son, Baruch and his wife Marsha Frances (Walters) Ben'-Melech of Memphis, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Wayne Dale Townsend, Allen Lee Townsend, Terrie Anhalt and Tina (Townsend) Dean; six great-grandchildren, Billy Womack, Danny Womack, Hailey Acord, Amber Acord, Delcey Dean and Amanda Townsend; one great-great-grandchild, Luke Milo Womack; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Pallbearers will be Baruch Ben-Melech, Ron Anhalt, Mike Walters, Melvin Walters, Allen Townsend and Mike Crowley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Terrie Anhalt, Tina Townsend Dean, Henry Farley, Danny Womack and Byron Pierce. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Booneville Funeral Service Chapel with burial at Sugar Grove Cemetery under the direction of Booneville Funeral Service.
