Armond Othel Thompson, age 88, of Cleveland, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at his home. A.O. or Othel as he was sometimes called was born December 16, 1926 to George and Susie Bost Thompson on "Rock Creek" in Northern Conway County. He graduated from Jerusalem High School and attended Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA) where he received his Masters Degree's in Biology and Guidance Counseling. With his education interrupted by WWII, A.O. served his country in the Army for 12 years including WWII and the Korean War, as a Medical Corpman. After his Military service A.O. enjoyed a great career as an educator including teacher, coach, principal, superintendent and finishing his career as Vice President of Student Affairs for UACCM. During his career in education he touched and was touched by many he always referred to as "family". He is survived by his wife of 64 years Reva Dale Halbrook Thompson; one daughter, Suzann Thompson; three sons, Tommy (Melody), Bill (Kim), and Mike (special friend, Cathy Ross) and special "daughter-in-law" Laurie Thompson; two grandsons, Josh and AJay; five granddaughters, Heather, Valerie, Carrie, Amelia, and Kassidy; four great grandchildren, Alex, Tressie, Alexis, and Katherine; one uncle, Paul Quentin; and many nieces and nephews, extended family and a host of friends who's lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his two brothers, Ibrie and Paul Thompson; an infant sister and a daughter-in-law, Margaret Biggs Thompson. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 1st at the Cleveland United Methodist Church with Bro. Mitch Burgess officiating. Burial will be at Old Liberty Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
