H. Bradford Govan, 91, of Arlington, Texas, entered the presence of Christ, his Lord, on Tuesday, July 28th. Service: Visitation will be Friday, July 31st from 5-7 p.m. at Moore Bowen Funeral home. Memorial services will be Saturday, August 1st at 1 p.m. at Arlington Presbyterian Church. Interment will be Monday, August 3rd at 11am at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock, Ark. Born in Marianna, Ark. in 1924, Brad realized his three boyhood ambitions by first, while serving as a Congressional aid in the 40s, being the drum major of the Washington Redskins band. Later he owned a newspaper in Arkansas and worked in public relations. He completed his career in community service and public relations, retiring from the United Way in Ft. Worth in 1989 after 33 years of service. In retirement, he expressed the hope of being "a public relations man for the Lord" and fulfilled that desire in faithful devotion to the Word and in faithful attendance in the churches of which he was an active part. Brad enjoyed an active life, playing golf until into his 90's and getting his first passport after his 91st birthday. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother and his wife of 41 years, Mary Alice, and his wife of 14 years, Wilma Misfeldt. He is survived and will be sorely missed by his children, son, H. Bradford (Chip) Govan and wife Carole, son, Thomas R. Govan and wife Sheila, and daughter, Ermine Batsche and husband, Steve, his seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. "They will bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock," Psalm 92:14-15.
