Christy Carol (Hendrix) Barnett

Christy Carol (Hendrix) Barnett, 47, of Benton, Ark., went to meet the Lord on Saturday, May 30, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born August 19, 1967. She was a faithful member of Forest Hills Missionary Baptist Church. Among Christy's many interests in life, her greatest joy was being with and enjoying family, especially Michael, her loving husband and Dallas and Kristyn, her amazing daughters. Christy immensely enjoyed every moment shared with her family; she especially loved watching her daughters play softball. They will forever carry Christy's love with them. Christy was known for her ease in conversations with friends and strangers alike. Yet even as a child, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around will never be forgotten by those who love her. Christy was preceded in death by her father, Dallas Hendrix; grandfather, Dewell Arey; grandmother, Josie Arey; grandparents, Algie (Slim) and Mary Ann Hendrix; and nephew, Matthew Brooks. She is survived by her husband of 26 years; two daughters; mother, Vernia Hendrix; father- and mother-in-law, Wesley and Mary Ann Barnett; sister, Vernia Ann Thorn and her husband, Lynn; brothers: Dallas Hendrix, Jr. and his wife, Sheila, Dennis Hendrix, David Hendrix and his wife, Dana, Doug Hendrix and his wife, Yvonne; and brother-in-law, Bryan and his wife, Ann. Christy is also survived by 46 nephews and nieces who affectionately knew her as Aunt Christy, a title she carried with great pride. They are Paij Thorn-Brooks and her children: Alex, Katelynn, and John Matthew; John Thorn and his wife, Gabi, and their son, Clayton; John Hendrix and his wife, Maggie and their two daughters, Halle and Lily; Dustin Hendrix and his wife, Kaylynn; Steven Hendrix; Amy Nalley and her husband, Kevin and their children, Kinlee, Jax, and Knox; Chad Hendrix and his wife, Anna and their children, Evie Kate, Michael, and Merritt; Nick Hendrix; David Hendrix, Jr.; Dexter Hendrix and his wife ,Jaymie and their children, Chloe and Callie; Dawn Hendrix; Danielle Hendrix; Kate Davidson and her husband, Aaron; Landon Parker and his wife, Kylie; Emily Parker; Stephanie Smith and her husband, Zach and their children, Carson, Collin, Cassius, and Cai; Rachel Barnett; Ashley Barnett; and Mattie Barnett. Christy also loved her friends of many years, her pastor, Marcus Blakely and his wife, Debbie. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton, Ark. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Forest Hills Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be held at the Rosemont Cemetery.
