Birl Eugene Jones Jr.

Birl Eugene Jones Jr. (Ret. MSGT), age 78, of Jacksonville, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 at Baptist Springhill Medical Center in North Little Rock. He was born October 28, 1936 in Coy, Arkansas to the late Birl and Martha Camp Jones Jr. On August 20, 1955 he married Margaret Ann Cates in England, Arkansas. Mr. Jones retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1977 having served his country for over 23 years. He was an owner and operator of Exxon service stations before retiring in 1993. Mr. Jones was a member of the England Masonic Lodge. He volunteered at North Metro Medical Center. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret in 2012; son, Ronald Eugene Jones; five brothers, Sammy Jones, Louis Jones, Don Jones, Kenneth and Wayne Jones. He is survived by a daughter, Melissa Jones Sellars of Jacksonville; son, Gary (Lisa) Jones of Lonoke; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Jay) Murrell of Cabot, Mandy (Jason Wolff of Cabot, Talyn and Sarina Jones, both of Lonoke; two great grandchildren, Mason and Lainey Kate Murrell; brother, Marvin Jones of Tulare, California; sister, Pat Anderson of Redding, California; numerous nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father and Papaw to all of his family who will miss him very much. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10: a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Tommy Camp officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Mausoleum with full military honors.
