James L. Tinkle, 77, of Russellville Ark., formerly of Ferndale, AR passed away on Monday, June 1st, 2015 at Hospice Home Healthcare in Little Rock. James is preceded in death by his parents, Will Clarence and Lou Ella Tinkle, a brother, Clarence Ray (Buddy) Tinkle, and his first wife of 40 years, Suzanne Tinkle. James leaves behind his wife of 11 years, Laura Lee Rogers Tinkle; his sons, Tracy Tinkle (Sandra) of Naperville, Ill., and Eric Tinkle of Little Rock, and his daughter, Mandy Hodges (David) also of Little Rock; his two step-daughters, Laura Margaret Growdon of Brentwood, TN, and Teresa Rogers of Clarksville, Ark.; nine grandchildren, Kayla Gowin (Travis) of Conway, Sami Tinkle and Kelsey Murray (Kevin) of Naperville, Ill., and Tyler Hodges, Zarah Tinkle, Eden Tinkle, Dalton Hodges, Skyla Tinkle, and Kissten Tinkle all of Little Rock; three step-grandchildren, Jessica Rogers and Ethan Rogers (Charlee) of Clarksville, Ark., and Will Growdon of Brentwood, Tenn.; and three great-grandchildren, Maelyn and Henry Gowin of Conway and Kinley Murray of Naperville, Ill. James also leaves behind a brother, Bobby Tinkle (Bettye) of Little Rock and sisters Lou West and Shirley Best both of North Little Rock. James was born on August 10, 1937 in Gurdon, Ark. James served in the Navy, was a veteran of the Korean War, and he was retired from Arkansas Power & Light Company. James was an avid golfer and could always be found playing 18+ holes on the golf course. The only thing he loved more than golf was his role as "Papaw." If not on the golf course with his buddies or his best friend and wife, Laura, he was spending time with or bragging about his grandchildren as they were his pride and joy. James was a gentle and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will truly be missed by all lucky enough to have known him. James' family thanks the excellent nursing staff at CARTI in Russellville and Baptist Hospital in Little Rock for taking such wonderful care of him in his final days. Funeral service will be 9:30 a.m., Thursday, June 4, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. (501) 224-8300. Please join the family after interment for a luncheon in honor of James at the Embassy Suites Hotel at 11301 Financial Centre Pkwy. Visitation will be held 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.
