Mary Jane Henderson

Mary Jane Henderson, 64, of Decatur, Arkansas, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at home, surrounded by her family, after an eight year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on August 7, 1950, in Decatur, Arkansas, to Wayne Meigs and Olga McClellan Meigs. She lived her entire life in Decatur, and in September of 1967, she did the unthinkable-she married a Gentry boy, Dan Henderson. Mary Jane touched a lot of lives in her 64 years. She was a genuinely good person, and many people loved her. She instilled in her children and grandchildren, a high moral code, the ability to accessorize, and a love for 60's music. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and organizational guru. You can be sure that there were no wrinkled clothes, unwashed hands or mismatched outfits on her watch. She had exceptional "supervisory skills' and had no problem giving her input on how things should be done. There is no doubt that she will be the head robe ironer and closet organizer in heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Barbara Meigs and Shirley Nance, one son, Brent Henderson and two grandchildren, Brent and Lauren Henderson. Survivors include her husband, Dan of the home; son, Tim Henderson and wife Arminta Cripps of Gentry, Arkansas; daughter, Kelli Kilgore and husband John of Decatur, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Tim Jr., Robert, Joshua, Melanie, Michelle, Kyle and Dylan; sister, Donna Meigs of Fort Smith, Arkansas; brother and sister-in-law, Lex and Marcia Meigs of Decatur, Arkansas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, friends and Shorty the wiener dog. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2015, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Coffelt Cemetery, Vaughn, Arkansas. Visitation will be Thursday, June 5, 2015, from 6:00 pm to 8 p.m., at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. To sign the online guest book, please visit www.wassonfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund or the Huntington's Disease Society of America.
