Jean Marie Kanode Lindemuth

Jean Marie Kanode Lindemuth, daughter of Lester and Gretchen Kanode, passed away June 4, 2015. She was born July 30, 1928 in Topeka, Kansas. Jean attended school in Topeka from kindergarten through high school with her husband Larry, although they didn't date until attending Washburn University, and married October 1, 1950. Jean attended Clark's School of Business and worked as a secretary while Larry served in the army. They had two children, Leslie (Ron) Daring and Cary (Bonnie) Lindemuth. The family moved many times and Jean was involved in the church wherever they lived, teaching adult Sunday School and leading women's organizations. She also served as president of the hospital auxiliary. Jean loved writing poetry, serving and crafts. Her husband Larry passed away on May 22, 2014. After living in Bella Vista, they lived in three nursing homes and ended up with their son, Cary and his wife Bonnie. Jean is survived by: a sister, Helen (Ariz.) Shuck; a daughter, Leslie (Ron) Darin of Illinois; son, Cary (Bonnie) Lindemuth of Arkansas; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 at Village Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10 a.m. Internment will be in Topeka at 12:00 noon, Tuesday June 9, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
