Leota Geraldine "Jerre" Parks

Leota Geraldine "Jerre" Parks, 90, a resident of Tucson, Arizona, and former resident of Prairie Grove, passed away May 23, 2015 in Tucson. She was born February 14, 1925 near Dutch Mills, Arkansas, the daughter of Clyde and Jettie Mae Baugh Rutherford. Jerre loved and served the Lord and was active in her Church until she was no longer able to attend. She was an Eastern Star. Jerre was a devoted wife and mother. During WWII she wasrecruited from the Business College before graduating to hold a position in the First National Bank in Fayetteville. Jerre always enjoyed bookkeeping and the sheer puzzle of a spreadsheet. Her mother and father operated a General Store in Dutch Mills, Arkansas, for many years. She married Joseph "Joe" Carroll Parks in September of 1950, who preceded her in death. Joe was a long time Postmaster in Prairie Grove from 1966 until his death. Also she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Travis C. Rutherford and Bill N. Rutherford. Survivors include one son, James Arthur Parks of Mayflower, Arkansas, and Carol Jean Parks of Tucson, Arizona. The family will receive friends Saturday June 6, 2015 from 10 until 11 a.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Bethesda Cemetery near Morrow, Arkansas. Graveside services will not be held at the cemetery.
