Linda H. Spencer of Clarendon, age 66, made her journey to be with her Lord in eternity on Saturday, June 13, 2015. Linda is survived by her two daughters: Katherine S. Nichols of Clarendon and Heather S. Clawitter (Dustin) of Norphlet, Ark. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Taylor Spencer of Arkadelphia, John Spencer-Schiele of Hot Springs, and Kira Nichols and Ayden Nichols of Clarendon. Linda is also survived by her sister, Betty Medford (Lonnie) of Brinkley. She is preceded in death by her husband (Joseph W. Spencer of Clarendon) and her parents (Walter "Rudy" Henderson and Catherine Noto Henderson of Clarendon). Linda was also blessed during her lifetime to love and enjoy cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. Linda was a child of God, a devoted wife, an excellent mother, an amazing grandmother, a constant CHS Lion supporter, a phenomenal teacher and mentor, and a faithful friend to many. She enjoyed all kinds of sports, traveling, hosting exchange students, scrapbooking, photography, singing, going to movies, and spending time with her family. She was a lifelong member of the Clarendon First United Methodist Church and also enjoyed close association with Methodist churches in Bismarck, Norphlet, and Brinkley. Linda spent most of her teaching career educating students in the Clarendon Public School System (28 years) and retired in 2009 from the Forrest City School System (3 years). She was a member of the local, state, and national education associations and always fought for both teacher and student rights. She was passionate about her students and her community and worked hard to make the world a better place. Her most valued recent accomplishment was starting a local memorial scholarship program that helped make higher education possible for Clarendon students. There will never be another Linda Kay! We will all miss her sweet face, her cheers at the ballgames, her words of wisdom, and her loving arms. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 16th from 6-8 p.m. at the Clarendon First United Methodist Church (121 N. 3rd Street, Clarendon, Ark. 72029) with the funeral to follow on Wednesday, June 17th at 2 p.m. at the Clarendon First United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Churches of Clarendon, Bismarck, Norphlet, or Brinkley – and St. Jude Children's Hospital. Sign the guest book at www.bobnealandsons.com.
