Henry Clay Toney Sr., of Hot Springs Village, Ark. passed away seven minutes into Sunday, June 7, 2015. Born on May 15th, 1928, he lived, as he would say, "four score and seven years." Henry was married to Frances Elizabeth "Betty Fran" Berry for 67 years when she passed away the day before Thanksgiving in 2013. They moved their young family from Crossett, Ark. to Toledo, Ohio in the early 1950's, so that he could pursue a degree in mechanical engineering, earning a BS from the University of Toledo. Henry worked for Chase Bag Company as a teenager until retirement, after a long reign as their preeminent Project Engineer. The company held numerous patents in his name. He proved to be a very clever trouble-shooter and problem solver, building a stellar reputation in the packaging industry. Henry was a pioneer in multiwall bags, and a master of assembly line drive trains. One of his major projects was designing and building production machinery for microwave popcorn bags in the machine shop he oversaw for decades. Outside of work, he was a devoted family man and a lifelong Methodist. Henry and Betty Fran enjoyed travel, reading novels, playing golf, bridge, and having a variety of pets. A country boy at heart, Henry loved to garden and cook, and had a special affinity for horses and cats. He was deeply loved by his family and had a wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his older daughter, Patti Clay Toney; his son, Henry Clay Toney Jr.; his younger daughter, Elizabeth Ann Kaseman; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel, 105 West Third Avenue, Crossett, Ark. 71635. Interment will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark. (www.jonesservice.com). Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
