Margaret H. Chambers, 94, of Hamburg, died Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. Mrs. Chambers was a native of Conway; a resident of Hamburg since 1949 and a former resident of Conway and Lake Village. She graduated from Conway High School and attended the Arkansas State Teachers College, now the University of Central Arkansas. She served as the Memorial Chairman for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association of North Ashley County since 1961; served as chairman for the Arkansas Crippled Children, American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. She was the Director of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce for 19 years and she was a member of the Prairie Country Club and the Women's Golf Association. She was a member of the Hamburg First Baptist Church where she was in the Esther Sunday School Class and taught in the junior department. She was an avid reader and she loved her Bridge clubs She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Thomas Hamilton Chambers in 2012 and her parents, John James & Sarah Emerson Hickman. She is survived by a nephew, James I. Hickman of Scotland, Arkansas; a niece, Judith Gates of Michigan; three great-nephews, James Luther Hickman and James Seth Hickman both of Conway and Bryan Matthew Smith of Battle Creek, Michigan and a great-niece, Karlee Michelle Smith of Battle Creek, Michigan. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery.
