America Yvonne Bruner

America Yvonne (Leflar) Bruner, 93, of Siloam Springs passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Siloam Springs Regional Hospital. She had been a resident of Siloam Springs since 1953. Yvonne was born on October 30, 1921 in Haseville, Mo., a daughter of James Ralph Wood and Veda Mae Sayers Wood. She attended the Chillicothe Business College and worked at the First National Bank, now Arvest Bank, in Siloam Springs for 20 years. She has been a member of the First United Methodist Church for many years and was a cook for the Breaking Bread dinner on Wednesday nights. She was also a member of the Unity Circle and had volunteered with the Dogwood Literacy Council and the Manna Center, retiring only a year ago from the Manna Center. She loved to travel and spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by one son, James William Leflar Jr. and partner Evelyn Strobel of Belen, N.M.; three daughters, Linda Lou Bigham and husband Jay of Newburgh, Ind., Helen Jean Schoonmaker and husband Philip of Chouteau, Okla. and Sheree Ann Wallace and husband Ron of Siloam Springs; two sisters, Marcelle McPheeters and husband Richard of Duluth, Minn. and Catherine Hicks of Grove, Okla.; a sister-in-law, Vera Hilliard and husband Duray of Denison, Texas; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, James William Leflar Sr. She was then married to John Smiley Bruner until his death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by one brother, James R Wood and one sister, Margaret Heaton. Visitation will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home on Friday, June 19, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 2 p.m. Dr. Randy Rowlan will officiate the service with burial being conducted at the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
