Ervin Louis French, Jr.

Mr. Ervin Louis French Jr., 84 years of age, of Tuckerman, died June 20, 2015 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born in Tuckerman on March 22, 1931 and had lived there his entire life. He was a member of the 1950 graduating class of Tuckerman High School. Mr. French was a member of the Tuckerman First United Methodist Church. He had a strong Christian faith that was evident to everyone around him. Louis was a veteran as he served four years in the Air Force. He served on several civic organizations and offices, being both on the Tuckerman city council and later becoming mayor. He helped his brother-in-law install tv cable, possibly the first TV Cable System in the world. It is known today as CATV and it was installed in Tuckerman, Ark. in 1950. He spent the majority of his professional career in the farming industry, managing at both Hurley's Cotton Gins & Crain Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin Louis French, Sr. and Ida Pilcher French and one sister, Norine French Davidson Rowe. He was also preceded by his daughter, Cynthia Jane French and his loving wife of 60 years, Geraldine Brand French. Survivors include his son, Stephen Louis French and his wife, Anne Denton French of Tuckerman and one sister, Pat Douglas of Louisiana. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Kimberly Dawn King and her husband, Dane King and Olivia Grace French and two great-grandchildren, Evan Dane King and Lucinda Jane King. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 23 at the Tuckerman United Methodist Church with Rev. Diane Wemberly officiating. Burial will be at Gracelawn Cemetery in Tuckerman.
