Laura Jean Pounds, age 92, of Lantana, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 21, 2015. She was born on Dec. 28, 1922 in Hot Springs, Ark., the daughter of the late Clarence D. Meux and Rena May Curtis Meux. On June 23, 1944 she married William Fay Pounds who preceded her in death on June 15, 2014. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Pounds. Laura Jean was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church in Hot Springs, Ark. She retired after many years of working for the Lake Hamilton School District. She enjoyed sewing and cooking, but she took pride in her care and love for her family; they were her world. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her and we rejoice in knowing that she is with her Lord. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Dee Pounds of Flower Mound, Texas and Alan and Marlene Pounds of Costa Rica; one daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Robert Grant of Flower Mound, Texas; four grandchildren, Bill Pounds, Amanda Pounds, Natalie Grant, Thompson Grant; one great-grandson, Benjamin Pounds; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Liz Meux of Denton, Texas; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Patty Gould of Amity, Ark.; several nieces, nephews, other extended family members and a host of wonderful friends. Church services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in the Piney Grove United Methodist Church in Hot Springs with Rev. Scott Gallimore officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m., Monday evening at Davis-Smith Funeral Home in Hot Springs. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Gatlin, John Gould, Rob Grant, Thompson Grant, Alan Pounds and David Pounds. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
