Myrtie "Pauline" Baker

Myrtie "Pauline" Baker, age 92, of Benton, joined our Lord and Savior in Heaven on Friday, June 26, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Everett John Baker, Sr., and together they had three children: Everett John Baker, Jr. (Catherine) of Atlanta, Texas; Carolyn Gay Gentry (Larry) of Benton; and Jane Baker Jones of Benton. Pauline had four grandchildren: Christopher Ryan Gentry, Elizabeth Baker, John Baker III, and Austin Matthew Jones. Pauline was born March 13, 1923 as the youngest child of the late Edward Elias Gay and Etta Wright Gay of Springdale. She was predeceased by her five siblings: Thelma Gay Burba, Russell Vernon Gay, Edward Everett Gay, Eunice Elizabeth Gay, all of Springdale and Mary Eva Gay Hannaford of Kankakee, Ill. Pauline is a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She was an elementary school teacher for 38 years. Pauline taught at several schools in Illinois and Arkansas. Prior to retirement, she taught at Jones Elementary School in Springdale. Pauline was a member of Bryant First United Methodist Church since she and her husband moved to Bryant in 1989. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 30 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 1 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Pine Crest Memorial Park.
