Charles W. Bland, passed away June 28, 2015, at Baptist Health Little Rock after a seven week battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He passed easily and finally able to breathe without struggling. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara and four children; Danny Bland, Kevin Bland, Michael Bland (Karen), and Jennifer Yamin (Rick). Also survived by his grandchildren, the absolute joys of his life; Kayla Bland, Reid Yamin, Bryce Yamin, Austin Bland, Claire Bland and Hannah Bland. He was such a fun Papaw. He Spent time camping, swimming, etc. and would send the grandkids home, reluctantly, for their parents to straighten out. He is also survived by one sister, Joann Green (James), nieces and nephews: Nancy Brown, Judy Thompson, Johnny Bland, Mike Green, and Mark Green. Charles graduated Pine Bluff High School and worked for the Arkansas State Highway Dept. He was drafted into the army shortly after being married in 1960. After two years in the service, returned to Little Rock and resumed Worked with the AHWD. He went to work for Sears for over 30 years before retiring to have fun with his grandchildren. So many good times. He Loved and lived (as much as possible) at Lake Ouachita with other "lake friends and their children". Scouting was a major part of his life, both as a father and scout leader. Oh, yes, He was also known as "Goat Shed" in Indian Princess, with his daughter. He and his best friend of 50+ years, Searcy, did a monthly run to McClards for the "Big Spread". It was a good life and sure he is cruising around "Lake Heaven". Must say "many blessings" to nurses and staff on tenth floor and ICU South for their tender care while at Baptist. Also, Dr. Gentry, Dr. Delap and Dr. Homsi. They tried so hard to try to make him well and for their kindness and direction for the family. You will always have a place in our hearts. Also, all the loving friends and family. Many times, you made our day just by a call or card. A casual gathering will be held at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills on Stagecoach Rd. (Hwy. 5 N.)
