Paul Davis Hanshaw, 80, of Jonesboro, Ark., died Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. Paul was born April 4, 1934, in Black Rock, Ark. to Paul Dennis Hanshaw and June Davis Hanshaw. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by a daughter, Heidi Hanshaw, his first wife, Nora Ann Hanshaw, and a brother, Charles Hanshaw. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Stephens Hanshaw, of the home, son, Hunter Jackson Hanshaw (Hillary) of Jonesboro, a grandson, Hunter Hinton (Natalie) of Little Rock, a brother, Lance Hanshaw (Lee Ann) of Cabot, a sister, Annette Maples (Bill) of Little Rock, as well as nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends. Paul attended the University of Arkansas before graduating from Arkansas State College in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and minors in Biology and Military Science. While attending Arkansas State College, Paul served in the ROTC and achieved rank of First Lieutenant before resigning his Commission with the United States Army Artillery. A member of First United Methodist Church, Paul lived most his life in Jonesboro. Founder of Paul Hanshaw Chemical Company in 1966 and in 1980 Hanshaw Commission Company, Paul was a successful businessman in the agricultural chemical field as a salesman, distributor, formulator, retailer, and eventually, an agricultural chemical broker. Serving for six years as a member of the Board of Directors including President of the Arkansas Agricultural Pesticide Association, Paul served on other boards including the Chemical Producers and Distributors Association and the Jonesboro United Way. An organization very dear to his heart, Paul was a brother of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Tad Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service in the chapel. Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Don Spikes, Randy Thompson, Brad Broadaway, Steve Orr, Joe Sinclair, Jerry Jett, Doug Falls and Tom Fleming. Honorary Pallbearers are Jonesboro Country Club Bourre' players, Rock Creek Ranch members, NEA Doctors Bill Hubbard, Michael Isaacson, and Dick Stephenson, Potluck Club, Jonesboro Country Club staff, John Freeman, Sonny Dean, Don Cox, and Charles Joseph, Rodger Hurt, David Martin, Skip Covington, Bill Hurt, Wallace Fowler, Bill Caldwell, Scott Hancock, Bill Deline, Wade Castleberry, Norm Snyder, Terry Gairhan, Buddy Melton, and Tommy Rankin.
