Leslie P. "Les" Gunter, 76, of Hickory Plains, Arkansas, was born March 27, 1938 at Hickory Plains, and he died Thursday, March 5, 2015. He was retired from Capital Glass Company. Les was a kind, loving, compassionate man with a sense of humor, and his smile brightened everyone's day. After his family and friends, raising cattle was his passion. He is survived by his wife, Edna Gunter; three sons, Michael Gunter and wife Debbie of Cabot, Steve Gunter and wife Mary of Little Rock, and Danny Gunter of Ft. Smith; daughter, April Gunter Eagle and husband Ronnie of Ft. Smith; stepchildren, Johnny Gibson, and Gayla Rector and husband Paul, of Hickory Plains; grandchildren, Dustin Eagle and Allison Astin, Bryan Eagle and wife Stephanie, Stevie Lynn Gunter, Colby Gunter and Crystal Short, Lesli Eagle and Cody Carroll, Krista Gunter, Paul Goss, Timothy Gibson and Amber Vanover, Logan Gunter and Autumn Gunter; three great-grandchildren; sisters Hazel Quick O'Bannon, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Marie Bertrand of Russellville; and numerous nieces and nephews, family and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Neva Stringfellow Gunter; his parents, Vernon and Thelma Gunter; two brothers, William E. Gunter and Johnny Gunter. Special thanks to North Little Rock Oncology Clinic, and Dr. Diane Wilder and staff for the love and compassion shown to Les during his illness. Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Smith - Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2015, at Open Arms Assembly of God, Beebe, with burial in Hickory Plains Cemetery, Hickory Plains, Arkansas.
