Fredrick Arthur (Art) Laney

Fredrick Arthur (Art) Laney was born Feb. 15, 1956 to Felix and Lena Cockrum Laney in Camden, Ark. He said goodbye to this world on March 14, 2015. Art graduated from Camden High School and completed his college education at Norwood Institute in Midland, Mich. After returning to Camden, he joined his father in the automobile business. He was married to the former Renee' Haley of Camden, but eventually went their separate ways as friends. Art is preceded in death by his father, Felix A. Laney; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Laney and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Cockrum of Clarksville, Ark. He was also preceded in death by special soul mate, Linda Hogg of Camden. Art is survived by his mother, Lena Laney; two brothers, Alan Laney and wife, Debbie and Sid Laney and wife, Debra, all of Camden; two nieces, Lauren Williams and husband, Kevin of Little Rock, Macy Laney and fiancée, Slade Farris of Fayetteville; two nephews, Titus Laney and wife, Leigh of Fayetteville and Marshall Laney of Little Rock; a special aunt, Pam Cockrum of Clarksville, Ark. Art is also survived by another loving aunt, Thelma Shock and uncle, Owen Cochran, both of Morrilton, Ark. as well as 20 first cousins, all of whom he was close to. Art will be remembered as an unassuming friend to all he met, loving fun and fellowship with a wide variety of interests. Always ready for adventure in whatever came his way. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Tony Weston officiating. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
