Hazel Marie Erwin McGriff

Hazel Marie Erwin McGriff, 76 of the Palmyra Community (near Star City) died Saturday at her home. She was born in Lincoln County, Feb.1, 1939 to the late Willie D. and Kathleen Ross Erwin. She was a retired seamstress, cattle farmer, homemaker, and caregiver. She was also a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Star City. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Wayne McGriff and a grandson, Jeremy Phillips. Survivors include daughters, Sarah Paula Crews and husband Russell of Palmyra and Susan Phillips of South Carolina; two sisters, Betty Lee and Gladys Hasley both of Star City; four grandchildren, Taylor and David Crews and Callan and Payton McGriff. Other survivors include two nieces, Kathy Johnson and Beverly Pointer and a nephew, Randy Lee. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City with Bro. Dwayne Roper officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangments by Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.
