John Wayne Keathley, 57, of Mt. Vernon, left his earthly home Tuesday, March 17, 2015. He was born September 24, 1957 in Searcy, Ark. to the late Kermit and Rachel Keathley. John Wayne was also preceded in death by his brother, Don Leo Keathley. John Wayne was a member of the Church of Christ. He was an avid Razorback fan, who enjoyed listening to Willie Nelson, hunting, fishing, CB radios, and all sports. John Wayne also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the little ones. Even though John Wayne was faced with many physical challenges, he always remained positive and was an encouragement to others. John Wayne had a great sense of humor and was one of a kind. He was a friend to many and loved by all. John Wayne is survived by his sister, Shirley Starr (Bobby) of Mt. Vernon, niece and caregiver, Lisa Smith (Don), of Mt. Vernon, niece, Rita Wahl (Ritchie) of Conway, nephews, Kenny Starr (Donna) of Greenbrier, Kirby Starr (Joyce) of Mt. Vernon, many great and great-great-nephews and nieces, and a host of friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 20th at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway (501) 327-7727, with Mike Ball and Lynn Burford officiating. Burial will follow at Heffington Cemetery in Enola. Serving as pallbearers will be John Starr, Jastin Starr, Jeff Starr, Rodney Jones, Matt Smith, Michael Lacewell, Bart Ussery, and Cody Hopper. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Starr, Kirby Starr, Robert Fason, and Allen Hodge. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
