J. Hugh Southern, 86, of Timbo, Arkansas passed away at his home on March 24, 2015. J. Hugh was born on October 21, 1928 in Round Mountain, Arkansas to the late McKinley and Bernice (Lee) Southern in Round Mountain, Arkansas. J. Hugh was a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was decorated with the Korean Service Medal, five Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal and a Purple Heart. J. Hugh was a former board member of Timbo School, Farm Bureau, and the Soil and Conservation District; as well as being a successful farmer. J. Hugh is survived by three daughters, Sherry Branscum, Carla Cutrer and husband Mark, and Diane Phillips and husband Kevin; three brothers, Willie Southern, Rubin Southern, and Junior Southern and wife Sandra; one sister, Wilma Tilley; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. J. Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, McKinley and Bernice (Lee) Southern, and his wife, Louise (Gammill) Southern. A visitation will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Timbo Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Timbo, Arkansas from 12-2 p.m. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 2 p.m.with Brother Junior Barham officiating. Interment will be at Pordue Cemetery in Onia, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Clint Branscum, Brent Branscum, Grant Branscum, Jon Fulks, Josh Fulks, and Trent Rushing. Honorary pallbearers are Kristen Marsoff, Paulie Phillips, Lauren Phillips, Jerome Branscum, Willie Southern, Junior Southern, Rubin Southern, Mike Tilley, Richard Southern, Phillip Southern, and Larry Southern. Roller Coffman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
