Thomas Watson Light, Sr., 87, of West Helena, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in West Helena. Mr. Light was born March 8, 1928 at Pope County, Arkansas to the late Frank Fletcher Light and the late Sophie Healon Watson Light. He was the co-owner of Watson's Flowers & Gifts in West Helena and served as Past President of the Arkansas Florists' Association. Mr. Light was very active in the community serving as Past President of the Helena-West Helena School Board, West Helena City Councilman, Past President of the West Helena Lions Club and member of the Helena Rotary Club. He was a founding board member of the West Helena Savings & Loan and also served on the board of the East Arkansas Mental Health Center. Mr. Light was a member of the West Helena Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, sang in the choir and was a member of the Watt Moore Sunday School Class. Mr. Light is survived by one son, Tommy Light of West Helena; two daughters, Lanie Brandon (Bill) of West Helena and Laurie Light of Boston, Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Lori Wooten (Mike) of Lexa, Arkansas, Kimberly Simpson (Justin) of West Helena, and Anne Marie Light of West Helena; five great-grandchildren, Michael Wooten, Brooke Wooten, Katelyn Wooten, Emma Newsom, and Adelynn Simpson; and one sister, Ruby Dell Smallman of Malone, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 62 years, Frances Light; brother, J.A. Light; and three sisters, Johnnie Mae King, Virginia Steinbeck and Doris Lee Baw. Funeral services for Thomas Watson Light Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at the West Helena Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Reverend Steve Williams and Reverend David Crouch will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Mark Rogers, Justin Simpson, Jason Webster, Brent Harris, Tony Palmer and Troy Long. Honorary Pallbearers are James Brasel, Mike Wooten, Dr. Gill Pillow, and Don St. Pierre.
