Earl Miller (E.M.) Newman, 86, of Malvern, Ark. (and formerly of Sherwood, Morrilton, and Hot Springs), passed away on March 27, 2015. Newman was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Newman, Sr. and Beatrice (Allen) Newman and his beloved wife of 66 years, Gene (Stanley) Newman. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Franklin and her husband, Ed, of Hot Springs; grandson, Greg Franklin, and his wife, Marie, of Seattle, Wash.; his brother, Joe Newman, of Greenwood, Ark., as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Newman was a well-loved man who knew the state of Arkansas like the back of his hand. He grew up in Vilonia and North Little Rock. He always loved baseball and played for several semi-pro teams during his youth. He also loved gardening, all kinds of animals, cars, and racing of all kinds. He had a real passion for quail hunting and always trained his own dogs. He worked at Coleman Dairy for 38 years, where he worked his way up from a route man in Hot Springs to becoming district manager for the northern half of Arkansas, while winning many sales awards over the years. Newman logged countless miles across the state for Coleman, making friends along the way. His gift for telling a story and his boisterous chuckle will forever be missed. The family would like to thank all of the people at The Crossing in Malvern for their loving care of Newman for the past year and a half. We would also like to thank our special angel, Dean Sears. She was a real blessing to him and to us for the last years of his life. Miss Dean supported him in so many ways and was his constant buddy until the end. Visitation will be at Gross Funeral Home chapel in Hot Springs at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, followed by a service at 11 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will be in North Little Rock at Edgewood Memorial Park at 3 p.m. that afternoon. Guest register at www.grossfuneralhome.com.
