Myrtle Oma Benson-Forrester

Myrtle Oma Benson-Forrester, 86, of Perryville, Ark. passed away March 29, 2015. She was born in Bigelow, Ark. on January 13, 1929 as the fourth of 10 children to Robert Benson and Bertha Pate-Benson. Myrtle was a homemaker and loved to make quilts by hand. Her children and grandchildren all have one or more pieces of her handiwork. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Alfred Forrester; son, Clarence Forrester; three brothers: Virgil, Isaac, and Loyd Benson; two sisters, Katie Benson and Ruby Shewmake; and son-in-law, Basel Etzberger. She is survived by daughters: Carolyn Pedigo (Jack), Polly Etzberger, Peggy Forrester, and Lisa Forrester; son, James Glenn Forrester (Marie); five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Lige and James Alfred Benson; and sisters, Thelma Herndon and Jenny Bell Tygart. Her life will be remembered at a graveside service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Kennerly Cemetery in Roland, Ark. Brother Chester Shewmake will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. before the service at the cemetery.
