Michael Rovine "Captain Mike/Rivermouse" Carter of Little Rock, Ark. was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Isiah and Dr. Vertie L. Carter. He completed his earthly journey April 28, 2015, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. His Christian journey commenced by uniting with Barroque Street Baptist Church in Pine Bluff at an early age. At age 14, he united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Little Rock, and at that time became a member of Boy Scout Troop #73. Previously, he was a Cub Scout in Pine Bluff, Pack #361. "Mike," as he was affectionately called, began school at the age of 4 at St. Peter's Catholic School in Pine Bluff. He won honors and first place in all categories of every phase. At age 16, he graduated Horace Mann High School in Little Rock, 2nd highest in his class--Salutatorian. His I.Q. was impressive, and he was highly sought after by various prestigious colleges. He attended Dartmouth College in New Hampshire; received a B.S. in Business Administration with honors at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was employed by Worthen Bank as a teller, NCTR near Pine Bluff, and, Missouri Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads. "Mike" was a kind, affectionate, compassionate person. With his love of boating, he often helped people in distress on the Arkansas River and developed a web site with river levels and lock and dam information. He had an affinity for helping little kinds unable to repair their bicycles. He was an avid chess player, and hobbies included, reading, flying kites, fishing and boating. It was often said that he was the life of the party, and could present non-stop jokes appropriate for any setting, be it clergy, political, medical, legal, and even families and children. He was a happy-go-lucky kind of guy and people loved to be around him. Left to cherish his memories are his devoted wife, Inge R. Carter; children, Felicia Jeanette and Robert C. Carter; grandson, Aiden John-Michael; mother, Vertie L. Carter; a brother, Larry D. (Zenobia) Carter, Sr.; and many beloved relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015, 1 p.m., at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Roosevelt & Main Street, Little Rock, Ark. Interment will follow at Elmlawn Cemetery.
