Phillip Waynne Hopkins, 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015, in North Little Rock, Ark. He was born Aug. 10, 1937, in Paris, Ark., son of the late Willodean (McCadams) and Freed Hopkins. A 1956 graduate of North Little Rock High School, he received a BSE degree from Arkansas State Teachers College (Now UCA) and did graduate work at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He taught mechanical drawing and art for 22 years in the Little Rock School District and worked in information distribution at Raytheon Corporate Jets until his retirement in 2004. He also ran his own lawn care business and directed a Kiwanis boys' summer camp for many years. He was a member of the Naval Reserves for 10 years. Mr. Hopkins was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church from the fourth grade on. He was an avid fisherman, deer hunter, camper, water skier, and motorcycle enthusiast. He loved the Lord and his family and was a devoted and loyal friend. He is survived by his wife, Myrna Gail Hopkins of 55 years; one son, John (Heather) Hopkins of North Little Rock, Ark., two daughters, April (Tommy) Owen of Little Rock, Ark., and Tammy (Bill) Walther of Little Rock, Ark., a brother Mike (Sandra) Hopkins of Fayetteville: a granddaughter Ashley Owen of Oxford, Miss., four grandsons, JP Hopkins of North Little Rock, Thomas Owen of Little Rock, and Will and Luke Walther, both of Little Rock, two sisters-in-law, Glenda Fay Leach of Jonesboro, Ark., Janet Willhite of Cabot, Ark., three brothers-in-law, Mike (Judy) Willhite of Arkadelphia, Ark., Clark (Marcia) Willhite of Decatur, Ill., Robin (Becky) Willhite of Heber Springs, Ark., and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock, with Rev. Luke Flescher officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015 in Park Hills Baptist Church's front lobby.
