ELVA LEE "BILLIE" BRIDGES, 96, of North Little Rock, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 30, 2015. She was born to George and Lena Viola Robertson Lasater on November 7, 1918, in Morrilton. She was married to Willis Bridges for 41 years at his passing. Billie was employed with Safeway grocery stores for over 30 years. After her retirement, she took pride in her volunteer work and service in the community. Ms. Bridges was a Worthy Matron during her 50 years of service with the Order of the Eastern Star. She served as a volunteer in the Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Hospital (Springhill) for over 25 years. Billie was a member of Baring Cross Baptist Church, Crosspoint Baptist Church and Pike Avenue Baptist Church. Through her years of service and dedication to the church, she was secretary to the music director, President of Young at Heart, a member of the choir, the President of the Faith Singles Sunday School Class and a member of the Has Been Band. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willis E. Bridges, son Jimmy Earl Bridges, granddaughter Amy Graham and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sister Betty Carolyn (Bill) Rambo of Scott; son Tommy (Janice) Bridges of Ft. Worth, Texas; daughter Brenda (Jimmy) Bryant of Jacksonville; daughter-in-law Claudette Bridges of North Little Rock; grandchildren Steve (Alisha) Bridges of Rockwall, Texas, Vicki (Russell) Hursted of Arlington, Texas, Kimberly (Bill) Wilmot of North Little Rock, Shannon (Kevin) Sweetin of Cabot, Jena (Steve) Moorhead of Bigelow and 15 great-grandchildren The family would like to thank the staff of Robinson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Gentiva Hospice for their loving care and compassion over the last few a years. Donations may be made to the Cancer Society or Fraternal Order of Police Disability Fund in lieu of flowers. Visitation will be Monday, May 4th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 5th at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend David Morley officiating. A private burial will follow at Bayou Meto Cemetery.
