Robert F. Mansur

The world lost a remarkable and irreplaceable man this week. Robert F. Mansur, 85, passed away peacefully following a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Robert, known by friends as "Bob" and affectionately by his family as "Paw-Paw," was born in Wadena, Minn. He attended Henderson State University for a short time before entering the military. He served in the United States Army where he deployed to the Korean War Conflict earning the rank of Sargent 1st Class as well as numerous military honors to include the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan); Korean Service Medal w/3 Bronze stars; UN Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal; and Good Conduct Medal. Following his military service he resided in Lake Village, Ark. where he worked as a printer with his brothers at Chicot Spectator newspaper owned by his father, Lester Mansur. He later traveled to Fairbanks, Alaska where he worked with his brother Harold Mansur at Jessen's weekly newspaper. Upon his return to Arkansas, he married the love of his life of 53 years, Bonnie Hamilton Mansur. He spent 35 years as a quality control inspector for International Business Forms (IBF) in Little Rock. He retired with Bonnie in 1994 at Lake Conway and spent many years enjoying the outdoors. Bob (Paw-Paw) loved staying active and spent many fond memories with friends and family golfing, camping, fishing, hunting, and working in his garden. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Lester Mansur; mother, Mae Mansur Taylor; stepmother, Dorothy Mansur Shannon; daughter, Lannette Mansur Lovett. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Mansur; daughter, Lynda Keel; son-in-law, Ronald Lovett; brothers, Charles (Shelby) Mansur; Clarence (Grace) Mansur; Harold (Lisa) Mansur of Wickenburg, Ariz.; David (Cecelia) Mansur; sister, Pat (Bobby) Hudson of Longview, Texas; four grandchildren, Jay (Terri) Thompson; LeAnne (Chris) Lovett-Floom of Kailua, Hawaii; Jon Ryan Keel and Robbie Keel; great-grandchildren, Jake and Lindsey Thompson, Jaycee Sullivan, Athena Keel, Kaitlin and Colt Keel and great-great grand daughter, Addilyn. In addition to immediate family, numerous nieces and nephews will also carry on his legacy. The memories and love for Robert/Bob/Paw-Paw have left a permanent imprint in our hearts and he will never be forgotten. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 5th at 1 p.m. at Forest Hills Memorial Park located at 10200 Hwy 5 North Alexander, Ark. 72002.
