Marlys Ann Cashion Turnage, age 86, died peacefully in her home on April 10, 2015. A service celebrating her life was held at Lake Village Baptist Church on Sunday, April 12. Brother Doug Beasley lead the service. She was born in Lake Village on February 14, 1929, to Myrtle and Elbert Cashion. Because she was a Valentine baby, Marlys thoroughly enjoyed celebrating her birthdays and was always remembered well with hundreds of cards. Marlys was a vibrant individual and loved others so well. She graduated as salutatorian from Lakeside High School where she was also elected Homecoming Queen. She was most definitely a "people person!" Even after her stroke she continued to visit others in the nursing home. She was energetic and kept her calendar full. Marlys was an avid tennis player, an outstanding cook, a skilled seamstress, and a sweet-a-holic! She was lovingly referred to as "Doe" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Lake Village Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving her Lord. Marlys worked in real estate as a realtor, broker and appraiser for many years; she was active in her profession, including being president of the Southeast Arkansas Board of Realtors. Marlys contributed much to her community as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, 20th Century Club, Lake Village Garden Club, Chicot Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the V.I.P. Investment Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charles Linwood Turnage, her parents, and her sister, Clotilda Cashion Hall. She is survived by her children, Carol Turnage Meyer of Eudora, and Charles Clifton Turnage of Monticello; her sister, Dot East of Little Rock; her brother, E.T. Cashion, Jr. of Lake Village; five grandchildren, Marlys Meyer Brown (William), Reynold Meyer (Jill), Carol Cashion Meyer Doolittle (Jeffery), Lollie Meyer Hayles (Jason), and Sarah Loomis. She also had 11 great-grandchildren: Web and Benton Brown; Caroline, Catherine, Mary Patton and Reyn Meyer; Prentiss, Cashion, Pfeifer and Reaves Doolittle; and Emily Loomis. Arrangements were made by Bishop-King Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lake Village Baptist Church or Arkansas Children's Hospital.
