Billy Dalton Cotten went to be with his Lord on April 15th, 2015. He was 92 years young. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Leenola Cotten and his youngest daughter Deborah Harrison. He leaves behind his loving wife of 74 years Marilyn Joy Cotton; three sons, Charles (Bonnie), Larry (Jane), Marty (Christy); a daughter, Pat Phillips (Lynn); 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Billy was a member of the "greatest generation" serving in the Navy until 1946. He took part in several operations in the South Pacific during World War II, including the invasion of Okinawa during which he manned a ships gun fighting off kamikaze attacks. He was a highly decorated seaman for his courage and bravery. He was able to obtain his GED during his Naval Service. During his lifetime he worked at several professions supporting his family but his greatest love was being a Master Barber. He made many friends taking care of their grooming needs. Billy was active in all the communities he resided in. He belonged to his local Elks, Moose, and VFW Lodges and was active in the Rotary Club. He was an outgoing personality, never met a stranger, and could always be counted on to do the right thing. His greatest asset was simply. "He was a Good Man". A memorial service will be held at 1st Methodist Church Springdale, 206 West Johnson Ave., Springdale, Ark. on Saturday, May 9th, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment will occur at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 11, in the Fort Smith National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Billy requested any memorial to him to be in the form of donations to the Wounded Warrior Foundation Project, the VFW, or the charity of your choice.
