Arthur Cellard Layton

Arthur Cellard Layton, 86, of Pocahontas, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at St. Bernard's Medical Center, in Jonesboro. Arthur was born on February 14, 1929, in Jumbo, Arkansas, to Daniel and Lola (Richardson) Layton. Arthur worked as an agent for the Randolph County Extension Office for 30 years. He served in the United States Army, where he fought in the Korean War. In addition, Arthur was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan. Arthur is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leonard Layton; sisters, Florene Claxton, and Lorene Byram. Arthur is survived by his wife, Emily (Hembrey) Layton, of the home; son, Ken (Sherry) Layton, of Rogers; daughter, Kem (Kevin) Tyler, of Mountain Home; brothers, Emil Layton, of Kansas City, Kansas, and Remil Layton, of Mountain Home; grandchildren, Brittany Rodgers, Nicholas Rodgers, Kristin Bonito, Scott Tyler, and Brett Tyler; great grandchild, Evelyn Bonito. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015, from 5-7 p.m., in the Fears Family Funeral Home Chapel; funeral service will be on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 2 p.m., also in the Fears Family Funeral Home Chapel; Gerald Fears, officiating. Burial will follow in the Combs Cemetery near Melbourne, Arkansas. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. All arrangements are under the direction of the Fears Family Funeral Home in Pocahontas.
